British (Airborne) Glider and/or Air Craft Escape Axe - Arnhem Relic

Escape axe intended to cut through the wood or alluminium shell of an aircraft or glider in case of an emergency. This axe is in overall nice used condition with parts of the Air Ministry markings visible. This axe was recovered in the Arnhem area only about four weeks ago. The rubber handgrip indicates the patent number and tested to whitstand 20.000 volts (for cutting through wiring). These axes would have been fitted in for example gliders during D-Day and the battle of Arnhem. Can be upgraded.
