Hard to find and highly sought after. Probably the most iconic piece of British Airborne headgear; the Red i.e. maroon beret.
This Red Beret compromising a 1945 dated example, and makers marked Kangol Wear Ltd. The beret compromises a size 6 5/8 and is Broad Arrow marked. In addition the beret is clearly marked with War Department acceptance mark and letter code "L" indicting 1945/1946 being the year of issue. The beret is fitted with a khaki lining which was only produced in the 1945. The white makers and size mark are very much faded yet still present. The War Department acceptance stamp is in black ink.
The beret is fitted with an original Parachutisten cap badge. The beret shows minimal wear.A full original British (Airborne) Red Beret as would have been worn during D-Day , the Battle of Arnhem. and operation Varsaty 1945 Hard to find these days
