U.S. IKE Jacket 82nd Airborne Medical Staff Sergeant Mounted - Nice Used Condition
A stunning and original mounted IKE jacket (i.e. Wool Field Jacket). Mounted to a medical staff sergeant attached to the 82nd Airborne Division. Fitted with a sterling marked Paratrooper qualifaction badge indicating this staff sergeant completed parachute training. Mounted with medical corps collar tabs, staff sergeant stripes and 82nd Airborne formation patch. The jacket is mounted with various decorations. Including the Distinguished Unit Citation and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal. This campaign medal is fitted with two bronze stars and one arrowhead, each awarded for participation in an Airborne or amphibious operation.And fitted with a Croix de Guerre lanyard, awared to soldiers that that served on French territory during world war two. Suggesting that this staff sergeant part-took in various Airborne operations in the ETO of which can be assumed included D-Day and/or Market Garden. Adding to its interest is the medical badge which was awarded for medical duties during ground combat.
The jacket itself is in excellent and light used condition. Fitted with original label, sized 38L and dated December 1944. Makers marked Kravitz Clothing Co. The liner is marked with a laundry numer "S9503" which could an interesting research. A fantastic piece of history with an attractive patina. One of a kind and therefore cannot be upgraded.
