From Pacifist to Glider Pilot: Memories of the Glider Pilot Regiment By Alec Waldron
Alec Waldron's autobiography recounts his rebellion against a strict Plymouth Brethren upbringing to become a military glider pilot in WWII. Raised in a separatist, pacifist sect in Portsmouth, he defied his parents and church elders to enlist in 1939. As part of the first Glider Pilot Regiment, he survived the failed airborne assaults on Sicily (1943) and Arnhem (1944), though many comrades did not. An interesting account from a Glider Pilot. In good condition.
