Rare U.S. Airborne Modified i.e. Shortened T Shovel And Carrying Case - Nice Used Condition
This is a very rare example of a U.S. M1910 intrenching tool U.S. Airborne modified i.e. shortened. This was a common practice for Airborne troops as this modification would minimize the injury during combat jumps. These would have been used during D-Day and Market Garden for instance. The spade is clearly period modified judging the riffets and age which are textbook for wartime conversions. The shovel is clearly U.S. marked and found with original tool cover. The tool cover is original to the shovel and never been seperated. The cover has some nice trace of wear adding to the patina. Clearly makers marked B.A. & Co and 1942 dated. Hard to find these days.
