British 1937 Battle Dress Blouse & Trousers To A REME Captain in the VIII Corps - Nice Used Condition
A fantastic British 1937 Battle Dress uniform (blouse and trousers). Original mounted to a REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) Captain attached to the VIII Corps.
The Battle Dress Blouse is fitted with original label, sized 11. Marked with the War Department acceptance mark and letter "O" indicating 1942 also being the year of issue. The blouse is original mounted with REME shoulder tittles, Captains pips and embroided VIII Corps formation patch and lanyard.
The 1937 pattern trousers are in equal nice used condition, fitted with textbook brass butons. The liner is also marked with War Department acceptance mark and letter "O" indicating 1942 being the year of issue.
The British VIII Corps participated in the D-Day campaign in Normandy 1944. It was involved in Operation Epsom and Operation Goodwood. In September 1944 the VIII Corps played a supporting role in Operation Market Garden. By the end of the war it saw action in advancing from the Rhine to the Baltic sea. A fantastic piece of history and a uniform that has been together since the war. With a fantastic patina and provenance and therefore cannot be upgraded.
