Western Wall Fighting The attacks of the Americans in 1944/45 between Losheim (Rhineland-Palatinate) and Geilenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia) - Manfred GroB

As is well known, the American troops drove the remnants of the 15th and 7th German armies towards the Reich border with a gigantic superiority in material and personnel. Army Group B under Field Marshal Model was unable to stop the retreat of the German troops, some of which had been completely dissolved. It was only at the West Wall that Model succeeded in stabilizing the German defensive front. It included all troops that were in any way able to stop the advance of the Americans. This ranged from replacement and recovery units, Luftwaffe fortress battalions to the Volksgrenadier divisions newly built up by Himmler, which were to play a role, especially in the Aachen area.
The author, who has become known through other Westwall specialist publications, succeeds in documenting the battles between Ormont (Rhineland-Palatinate) and Geilenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia) in detail and saturated sources.
